ABOUT ME
I'm Tom MacLean, founder of Twelve Tone Studio.
Having started out in the music world back in 2005 as the guitarist for progressive metal band To-Mera, and later the bassist for epic proggers Haken, my experiences in recording and co-producing 6 acclaimed albums and several EPs within the genre led to an insatiable desire to understand more about the technical side of music production. Having worked with numerous highly skilled engineers in the scene, I wanted to understand what made the difference between music that sounded just good, and music that sounded world class.
In 2015, I decided to study the arts of mixing and mastering more seriously, and have undertaken audio engineering training through HOFA college in Germany (under tutors such as Dennis Ward), as well as personal training as an exclusive member of Jordan Valeriote's (Intervals, Auras, Silverstein) Syndicate programme.

That same passion and commitment that drove me to achieve my early goals as a musician, from releasing albums on respected labels like Inside Out and Candlelight, to performing in front of large festival crowds and opening for bands like Dream Theater and Emperor, is what now drives me to help artists like you get the very best sonic results out of your music!
So if you want to work with someone who is as devoted to your music as YOU are, you've come to the right place!
